There are pieces of jewellery that quietly finish an outfit. And then there are pieces that are the outfit. COEUR DE LION falls rather splendidly into the second category.
Best known for its distinctive GeoCUBE® jewellery, the German brand has turned little cubes of colour into something of a design signature. Natural stones, crystals, pearls and gleaming stainless steel are arranged into precise geometric compositions that somehow manage to be both wonderfully colourful and extremely grown up. It is statement jewellery without the shouting. And judging by the number of customers who admit to owning not one piece, but entire collections of the stuff, it can become rather addictive. So what’s behind COEUR DE LION, and does the quality justify the price?

Who is COEUR DE LION?
COEUR DE LION is a German designer jewellery company based in Stuttgart, where its jewellery is developed and largely handmade.
The brand is celebrating 35 years in 2026, and its identity revolves around colour, individuality and distinctive contemporary design. Its jewellery combines materials including genuine natural stones, crystals, freshwater pearls and stainless steel.
Crucially, much of the work isn’t outsourced to an anonymous production line thousands of miles away.
COEUR DE LION says almost all stages of production take place in its Stuttgart workshop, from the initial designs through to final quality inspections. Each necklace and bracelet carries a stainless steel quality seal, while pieces bought through the official online shop come with a certificate of authenticity. That gives the brand a pleasingly old fashioned quality in an increasingly disposable fashion world. Someone has actually made this.

Meet the GeoCUBE
If there is one piece of jewellery that defines COEUR DE LION, it is the GeoCUBE®. And it has been around considerably longer than you might imagine. The brand’s famous cube necklace was first presented in 1999, drawing inspiration from the clean lines and geometric principles of the Bauhaus art movement.
It went on to become the company’s international design classic. More than 25 years later, COEUR DE LION continues reinventing the GeoCUBE each season with new combinations of colour and materials. That’s part of its cleverness.
A GeoCUBE necklace is instantly recognisable, yet two versions can look completely different. One might combine jewel like blues and greens, another soft pastels, another earthy natural stones with gold tone stainless steel. There are matching bracelets and earrings too, meaning you can either make one piece the focus or go gloriously matchy matchy. We rather like the latter.

What’s the jewellery actually made from?
This varies considerably between collections, which is one reason the range feels more interesting than straightforward costume jewellery. GeoCUBE designs can combine genuine natural stones, stainless steel, crystals and pearls, with different materials selected to create those characteristic blocks of colour and texture. That mixture is important when considering the price.
COEUR DE LION isn’t fine jewellery in the traditional diamond and solid gold sense, but nor is it inexpensive throwaway fashion jewellery. It occupies a useful middle ground: designer jewellery made with quality materials and a recognisable design identity. And there is considerable craftsmanship behind the finished piece.
COEUR DE LION says the idea, development, design and creation of its GeoCUBE jewellery all take place at its Stuttgart studio.

What do customers think?
Very highly, as it happens. At the time of our research in August 2026, COEUR DE LION had an Excellent 4.84 out of 5 rating on Trusted Shops, based on 866 verified reviews, including more than 200 reviews from the previous 12 months. And the feedback makes entertaining reading because there are a lot of repeat customers. Some reviewers talk about owning a dozen pieces. Others say they first discovered the brand years ago and have continued buying necklaces, earrings and bracelets ever since.
One recent customer says she first treated herself to the jewellery around ten years ago and continues adding pieces to her collection. Friends and even strangers regularly comment on them, she says. Another customer who discovered COEUR DE LION while travelling in Germany says she has since bought necklaces, bracelets and earrings and is now giving pieces to her older grandchildren.
That tells us something interesting about the brand. It isn’t particularly age specific. The combination of clean geometric design and colour seems to work just as happily on someone in her twenties as it does on someone in her seventies.

What gets the most praise?
Three things stand out in customer feedback. Design, quality and colour. Reviewers repeatedly describe the jewellery as beautiful, distinctive and versatile, with particular enthusiasm for the stones and colour combinations.
One customer says her GeoCUBE pieces can be dressed up or down and make an outfit feel special without becoming overpowering. Another praises the jewellery as tasteful rather than chunky, while repeat purchasers regularly mention receiving compliments when wearing it. There’s also plenty of praise for presentation.
Customers report jewellery arriving carefully packaged and accompanied by certificates of authenticity, which makes COEUR DE LION particularly well suited to gifting.
Delivery attracts consistently positive comments too, with numerous reviewers describing their orders as arriving quickly and well packaged.

And what about longevity?
This is an important question when you’re spending designer jewellery money. Again, customer experiences are largely encouraging. Reviews include long term owners who say their pieces continue to be worn years after purchase, while customers frequently describe the jewellery as good quality and durable.
COEUR DE LION itself backs its jewellery with quality controls and a two year statutory guarantee, and it also operates a repair service. Where an eligible piece cannot reasonably be repaired under the guarantee, the company says it may replace it with an equivalent piece. There is, however, a little jewellery housekeeping required.
The company recommends avoiding intensive contact with water and removing pieces before showering, exercising or using a sauna. Perfume, creams, hairspray and sweat can all affect the surfaces and brilliance over time. In other words, we’d treat it as designer jewellery rather than test its survival skills at the local swimming pool.

Where does COEUR DE LION fall down?
With such a high customer rating, the criticisms are relatively limited, but they do exist. Occasional reviewers report product faults, sizing concerns or difficulties with returns, while there are isolated complaints concerning packaging or delivery damage.
One long term customer mentioned a bracelet clasp that doesn’t remain as tightly closed as she would like. Price is another consideration. COEUR DE LION is not bargain jewellery, and customers themselves occasionally mention waiting for promotions before adding another piece to their collection. But that doesn’t necessarily mean customers consider it poor value. In fact, several explicitly describe the jewellery as good value given the quality and individuality of the designs.
Perhaps the biggest danger is discovering that your first GeoCUBE necklace suddenly requires matching earrings. And then a bracelet.
We can’t help you there.

Is it good for gifts or presents?
Very. You already know our philosophy on this. This may actually be one of COEUR DE LION’s strongest suits. There is enough colour variation to make a piece feel genuinely chosen for someone rather than generically “jewellery ish”, while the presentation and certificate of authenticity give it a proper sense of occasion. Matching collections also make future birthdays rather convenient. Bought someone the necklace last Christmas? Excellent. Earrings this year. Bracelet next. Shopping sorted until 2028.

Our verdict: 4.5 out of 5
COEUR DE LION manages something rather clever. Its jewellery is instantly recognisable without being dominated by logos, colourful without looking childish and contemporary without chasing trends so enthusiastically that a necklace will look dated next year.
The GeoCUBE is the star.
That combination of Bauhaus inspired geometry, carefully arranged colour and contrasting materials gives it a design language all of its own. The fact that the company has been successfully reinventing the same basic idea since 1999 suggests this is a genuine modern classic rather than a passing fashion.
We’re equally impressed by the manufacturing story. At a time when “designer” can sometimes mean little more than a name stamped onto mass produced accessories, having much of the work carried out and inspected in Stuttgart adds genuine substance. And then there are the customers.
A 4.84 out of 5 verified rating is excellent, but the more revealing detail is the number of people who talk about collecting COEUR DE LION over many years.
The caveats? It is premium priced rather than impulse buy jewellery, and pieces need a little care if you want them to remain at their best. There are also occasional reports of faults or return frustrations, though these appear to be the exception rather than the rule among reviewers. Overall, though, this is jewellery with personality.
